The Jellabiya Stylish Outfits for Your Outings

The Jellabiya Stylish Outfits for Your Outings

When you want to stand out in an outing, you might not want to use the Ankara fabric that is common around the world. Have you heard of the outfit called jellabiya?

You do not have to travel outside Africa to get this outfit. We are richly blessed with creative designers who have given us some of the best outfits on earth.

You can step out with the jellabiya for your evening outings, dates, or even meetings.  The jellabiya is  known as jalabiya or galabeya. In Ethiopia, the Jellabiya is known as “jelebeeya” and “jehllubeeya” in Eritrea. It is a traditional garment from the Nile Valley which fits loosely. The garment is also traditionally worn in Sudan, Ethiopia, and Eritrea. However, the Egyptian style of the Jellabiya is worn by both men and women and appears to be colorful.

An attire similar to the Jellabiya is the Arabic thawb. However, a few things distinguish the Arabic thawb from the Jellabiya. The Jellabiya has a more pronounced cut, it lacks a collar, and in few cases has no buttons. In addition, the Jellabiya has longer and wider sleeves.

For farmers and labourers, the Jellabiya is sewn to have very wide sleeves and pockets where small items like tobacco and money can be kept.

Due to the vast use of the Jellabiya in farming, the Arabic dishdash is preferred amongst some of the Beja tribesmen and along the Red Sea coast in Nubia, Sudan and Egypt.

Depending on the season, there are different colors of Jellabiya worn. In the winter, thicker fabrics of Jellabiya are worn appearing in blue, tan, dark green, grey or olive colours and worn with brightly colored scarfs round the neck. In the summer, the Jellabiya are often white and made of lighter fabric. Traditionally, the Jellabiya is worn with a turban also known as ammama, which serves to complement the garment.

Who says you cannot rock this outfit? Thinking of smart and traditional outfits to use for your events, you can make use of this outfit. We have many designs of this outfit online.  Each country has their unique way of designing their jellabiya. If you reside in Ghana or Nigeria, the design comes differently, but similarly too.

We have some of the finest of this outfit on our page. If you want to something exotic for your outings, we believe that the jellabiya can serve you better. What do you think of these designs? The good news is that most designers can create stunning designs of this outfit for you.
